GranulitebBy Bernardo Cesare

Granulites are rocks from the deep Earth’s crust, which may reach temperatures of a thousand degrees at very high pressures. They’re the main object of study of Bernardo Cesare. This rock comes from Kerala, in southern India, and formed about half billion years ago. In the photomicrograph one can see two crystals of cordierite, with its typical striped distribution of color called “twins”.
