A rocking collection!

A microscopic image of this beautiful stone. 

This is a small piece of the semiprecious stone from Madagascar called Ocean Jasper. Ocean Jasper typically contains spherical aggregates - “orbs” - that form from alteration of former lava flows. In this sample the orb is made of tiny crystals of quartz mimicking flowers. That’s why they’re called “rosettes”.
